Finally, one of the Philippines’ most awaited Metal shows is about to happen as the arrival of today’s most renowned masked entity is imminent. PULP Live World is excited to announce SLIPKNOT LIVE IN MANILA, happening on March 29, 2020 at the Amoranto Stadium, Quezon City, as the newest addition to its extraordinary lineup of shows for the coming year.   This announcement comes at a time when the multi-platinum Grammy-winning act continues to send shockwaves through the global Metal community, having just released their widely anticipated sixth LP, We Are Not Your Kind. Released last August 2019 and highlighted by tracks like “The Birth of the Cruel,” “Solway Firth,” and the lead single “Unsainted,” Slipknot’s latest record has unsurprisingly left much of the music world in awe.   “With their latest studio album, Slipknot have released one of the strongest albums in their career,” remarks Consequence of Sound, with The Independent declaring, “The sheer ambition of We Are Not Your Kind is just as staggering as their seminal record Iowa – the dynamic might be even better.” Meanwhile, Billboard attests, “Iowa’s greatest musical export has only improved on its genre-busting sound.” The UK’s NME puts it simply: “The ‘Knot’s sixth album is an astonishing record.”   Slipknot emerged towards the end of the 20th Century from the US midwestern town of Des Moines, Iowa and quickly established themselves as the most enigmatic, provocative, and aggressive collective in contemporary music. 1999’s eponymous debut album is widely regarded as a modern-day classic and was honored by Metal Hammer as the “Best Debut of the Last 25 Years.” The release quickly racked up double RIAA platinum certifications in the US, with many of the band’s subsequent releases achieving platinum status around the globe.   To date, the band has been nominated for 10 Grammy Awards (winning in 2006 for “Before I Forget”), and has also scored 13 Platinum and 44 Gold record certifications around the world, with 30 million unit sales and over 2.5 billion YouTube views to date. Slipknot’s fanbase is as unwavering as it is ubiquitous — the band’s last studio album, 2014’s .5: The Gray Chapter, debuted Top 5 in the Official Album Charts of 19 countries around the world including the US (#1), UK (#2), Japan (#1), Australia (#1), Russia (#1) & Germany (#2).   With the arrival of We Are Not Your Kind came more feats to Slipknot’s name. It marked the band’s third consecutive #1 Album on the Billboard 200. Meanwhile, all music videos off the album, directed by M. Shawn Crahan, have each trended worldwide on YouTube. “Unsainted” was at #1 worldwide for a full 24 hours. Slipknot have also amassed over 52 million views in only two months. The nine-piece act also shook the world with the live debuts of “Unsainted” and their 2018 single “All Out Life” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, both of which have become the show’s most viewed music performances of 2019 on YouTube.   Fans of the band all over the world, Maggots as they are called, have continued to revere the band’s inscrutable trademark of theatrics that’s written all over a kind of music that has allowed them to change the face of modern heavy metal as we know it. The same can be said of Filipino fans of Slipknot, who have ceaselessly waited and clamored for this upcoming concert 15 years since the band was supposed to perform in the Philippines for the first time.   Now, about a decade and a half since the ill-fated show, Slipknot are finally on their way to the Philippines for the first time ever to bring their visually arresting, incendiary, and spectacular live show to the hallowed grounds of Amoranto, a venue that has witnessed the exponential and almost incomprehensible growth of the Filipino metal community through the years. This Manila show, which has been years and years in the making, will also be a ‘must-see’ event in what is shaping up to be one of the most exciting periods in the Iowa band’s 20-year career to date.   SLIPKNOT LIVE IN MANILA, happening on March 29, 2020 at the Amoranto Stadium, Quezon City, is proudly presented by PULP Live World. Gates open at 5:00PM and the show starts at 7:00PM. Tickets go on sale on November 23, 2019, 10AM through SM Tickets, TicketNet, and AirAsia RedTix. Tickets are priced at P2,220 (White Zone), P5,550 (Black Zone), and P6,660 (Red Zone). Ticketing charges apply. 2020 is shaping up to be another massive year in music as PULP Live World continues to mark more momentous milestones. Redefining the Philippine concert experience for two decades now since its inception in 1999, PULP has every intention of lining up the coming year with the loudest shows, the most explosive experiences, and the fondest memories. PULP kicks off 2020 with an old-school rock and roll show—Canadian emo/post-hardcore mainstays Silverstein are headed our way for their first Manila show in about eight years. SILVERSTEIN 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY IN MANILA, with special guests DEFYING DECAY, takes place on January 12, 2020, Sunday, at the Skydome, SM City North EDSA.   Shane Told (vocals), Paul Koehler (drums), Josh Bradford (guitar), Billy Hamilton (bass), and Paul Marc Rousseau (guitar) are making their way to Manila with a milestone of their own to share with their Filipino fans. The band is set to play their iconic album Discovering The Waterfront in its entirety along with other hits from their arsenal of anthems throughout their 20-year run as a band. Forming in Ontario, Canada at the turn of the millennium, Silverstein went on to become stalwarts of the emo/post-hardcore scene, being among the longest-reigning bands to be at the forefront of the genre. With nine studio albums to their name (a 10th release, Redux, being a recent independently-released compilation of re-recorded songs from the band’s first ten years), the upcoming 20 Year celebration is made more meaningful by the many career-defining moments that they’ve had as a band. From the time Silverstein broke out into the music scene with their debut album When Broken Is Easily Fixed (“Bleeds No More,” “Giving Up,” “Red Light Pledge”) in the year 2003, the Juno-nominated band has proven to be one of the most consistent bands around, not just with how they’ve released an album every two years without fail, but also with the way they’ve outdone themselves album after album. Now with over a million records sold worldwide, Silverstein fans appreciate the band’s music more with every album release. While later albums like I Am Alive In Everything I Touch (2015) or Dead Reflection (2017) are generally as favored as the more classic Silverstein records, if not even more, one album that will perhaps always be a special one is their second album Discovering The Waterfront (2005). With tracks like “My Heroine,” “Call It Karma,” and “Smile In Your Sleep,” this was an album that brought Silverstein more mainstream success during their early years as a band. To hear it live front to back, in 2019, would be quite the emotional experience as we celebrate 20 years of Silverstein in one very special and nostalgic show. Warming up the stage for Silverstein as support act are Defying Decay from Bangkok. Touring to promote their latest release Metamorphosis, the Thai alternative metal act are also returning to the Philippines after supporting Motionless in White on their UK tour towards the end of 2019. They are also off to Japan in January to share the stage with Slaughter To Prevail, but not ‘til after their Manila comeback with Silverstein. Presented by PULP Live World, SILVERSTEIN 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY IN MANILA, with special guests DEFYING DECAY, happens on January 12, 2020, Sunday, at the Skydome, SM City North EDSA. Gates open at 6:00PM. We rock and roll by 8:00PM. Tickets go on sale on September 30, 2019 at all SM Tickets outlets nationwide and online at www.smtickets.com. Tickets are priced as follows: P3,500 (VIP with Meet and Greet), P2,500 (General Admission). Ticketing service charges apply. PULP SUMMER SLAM, Southeast Asia's longest-running Metal festival, celebrates an unbroken two decades of live music performances and is still the only contemporary Philippine-based annual music festival ranked and recognized by the prestigious Festival 250.Once again ranking on the worldwide list, PULP SUMMER SLAM has moved up to #225 from its previous rankings of #229 in 2017 and #249 in 2016. Festival 250 is an annual project from Festival Insights, an online B2B publication focused on the international festival industry.Promoter Vernon Go says that this will likely be the final PULP SUMMER SLAM and has aptly given it an ominous theme: JUDGEMENT DAY. "I believe having IRON MAIDEN headline our 20th year of PULP SUMMER SLAM is not only historic but certainly poetic for Metal fans," says Go. "It is certainly a beautiful ending to two decades of Metal mayhem in the Philippines, especially since it is their only Southeast Asian stop and the only East Asia tour date outside of Japan."“We’re delighted to finally come to The Philippines and present the Legacy Of The Beast Tour to all our fans there! We’re immensely proud of this show and we’ve had great reactions from the many fans who came to see us in Europe, North America, Mexico, and South America,” comments Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson. “The production for the PULP SUMMER SLAM Festival is the same as the other shows on this tour so far and is based on our mobile game The Legacy of the Beast which takes various incarnations of Eddie into many different Maiden Worlds. • PULP SUMMER SLAM, Southeast Asia's longest-running Metal festival, celebrates an unbroken two decades of live music performances and is still the only contemporary Philippine-based annual music festival ranked and recognized by the prestigious Festival 250.Once again ranking on the worldwide list, PULP SUMMER SLAM has moved up to #225 from its previous rankings of #229 in 2017 and #249 in 2016. This inspired us to put together a stage show to take our fans through different Worlds and experiences set to appropriate songs,” he adds, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect during their headlining performance at the SLAM. As part of the multiple celebrations commemorating an important milestone in Philippine and global history, the National Quincentennial Committee (NQC) partners with PhilPop to mount music events and activities that mark the 500th anniversary of Victory of Mactan in 2021. Under the partnership agreement, the country’s premier songwriting competition will be the screening committee responsible for curating a 9-track compilation album that pays tribute to the triumph of Lapulapu in the famous Battle of Mactan.   Underrated gems Instead of relying on star power and mega-hits, Dinah Remolacio, the Executive Director of PhilPop highlights the importance of empowering underrated musical talents from all over the country whose artistic blueprint and songwriting talent stand out from the ordinary. “With guidance from our distinguished crop of industry professionals and award-winning mentors, this year’s selection strikes a balance between theme and form. I’m proud to say that the compilation record serves its function in discovering the future of homegrown music.”   National Artist and PhilPop Music Fest Foundation Board Member and Bootcamp Master Ryan Cayabyab feels the same way about the songwriters and interpreters behind the compilation record. “It’s an honor to discover promising new acts who are capable of writing compositions that could impact people’s lives. Not only are they defying and challenging trends; these songwriters are also finding ways to develop their own artistic stamp while making sure that the material adheres to specific requirements of NQC in terms of content and vision.”   As an esteemed institution that provides a world-class and sustainable songwriting curriculum, PhilPop has handpicked eight songs from the PhilPop Bootcamp 2019 that it hosted on various venues such as Batangas, Tagum and Lingayen. The final song, which will be a collaboration among PhilPop coaches, will be launched soon.   “PhilPop was one of the institutions that came to mind when asked who we want to work with in producing the Quincentennial songs,” says NQC Head of Secretariat Ian Alfonso. “This time, we want to come up with a streaming playlist that best represents the collective musical taste of this generation, while also taking into consideration the Filipino-ness of pop music and the celebration of the quincentennial.”   Future plans Aside from the National Quincentennial Commemorations Playlist which will be out on streaming and digital platforms soon, NQC and PhilPop is currently looking into producing music shows and concerts as part of its efforts to promote the 500 years of achievement in circumnavigating the planet for the first time. “One of the objectives of the National Quincentennial Committee is to have multi-disciplinary activities, and to have PhilPop among our partners is also a way of support to OPM industry,” Alfonso points out.   Alfonso recently shared the partnership’s plans to join the international community in celebrating a 500-day countdown to the Victory of Mactan in Lapulapu City, Davao City and Manila. “As we approach 2021, expect activities that will elevate public's interest to the World our ancestors had, debunking misconceptions and myths that they were savages and uncivilized. Our very own Lapulapu will be the heart of the celebration, for he was among the rallying Symbol which Rizal and the heroes of the Philippine Revolution evoked as our nation was being founded in 1898.”   PhilPop Bootcamp 2019 is an initiative of the PhilPop Music Foundation, chaired by Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan. This year's PhilPop boot camp is co-presented by Maynilad and Meralco with Smart as a major sponsor.

She’s Coming Home is a Filipino alternative band that formed back in 2015. Finding refuge in music from the already manic brawl of everyday life, the band writes songs that can tell stories and share experiences with a kick of blues and funk. In 2017, they made their debut on TV and online platforms including the 107.5 Wish Bus. Currently signed under Warner Music Philippines, the band’s latest release entitled ‘Kahit Saglit’ launched its official music video in May of 2019.   ‘TRY’   TRY will be the fourth single released by the band She’s Coming Home. It speaks of the emotions of two individuals who already ended their relationship but clinging on to the idea that perhaps they could still try. In collaboration with the Singapore-based producer and 2013 Grammy nominee Duke Purisima and in partnership with Asia Pacific School College School of Multimedia Arts, the listeners will be captured by the high contrast instrumentals and vocal arrangements of the band’s new single.   TRY intrinsically makes the listeners feel the whirlwind of emotions brought about by having to relive what it’s like to face love’s impending doom. The lyrics emphasize the aftermath of letting go, and yet still trapped in the process of holding on to a love that is already lost. The what-ifs are flooding in at the sheer sight of a past that could have been salvaged yet chose not to. In TRY, the music of She’s Coming Home induces connection with the listeners through their alternative rock music tinged with blues and funk.   Taking a step forward and leaving lost possibilities behind as the year comes to an end—TRY is now out on all digital platforms.

Four-piece alternative rock band Fridge is set to release their debut EP "Defrosting Emotions" on Friday, November 15, 2019, and it’s gonna be as real as it gets.     Recorded, mixed, and mastered at Nineworkz Productions, the album was teased to be focused on exhausting all your feelings; as each song has a story to tell and an emotional ride to take part in—songs about being lied to, getting played on, always seeing the good in someone, being grateful for the joy and experiences shared, and finding home in your person.   HOW FRIDGE CAME TO BE   Fridge was formed on January 2019 with Franz Santiago on guitar and vocals, Mateo Santos on lead guitar, Steve Ducay on bass, and Bryan Estandian on drums, all hailing from San Mateo, Rizal.     From “Ball is Life” to “Food is Life” the band got their name from (what else other than) a refrigerator, where all great things like food and booze come from — hence “Fridge”. Despite having different influences such as indie, pop, new wave, math rock, emo, and metal, they find their common ground with their passion for rock music that gives them an advantage in creating unique and realistic music.     Their debut EP "Defrosting Emotions" will be out on digital platforms this Friday, November 15, 2019, followed by a gig launch on December 6, 2019, at Custom Thread, Don Antonio, Commonwealth, Quezon City.     For more info and updates you can check them out on their social media accounts: FB: https://www.facebook.com/fridgemusicph/ IG: @fridgemusicph YT: https://bit.ly/2HLLLw1   #FridgeMusicPH #LocalGrind #Fridge #DefrostingEmotions

After reaching the number one spot in one of the most prominent FM radio charts in the Philippines and peaking at number two on Spotify Philippines Viral 50 with “Selos,” the vowels they orbit returns with a brand new single under Sony Music Philippines. An easy listening number that showcases the band’s more relaxed and technically adept side, their second single “Kiliti” is a song about finding the perfect someone in an imperfect situation. It tackles a kind of love that is capable of surmounting the greatest odds under any circumstances. “The song was written by Nikka back in college a few years ago with just her guitar,” says Darwin Hernandez, the band’s manager and Soupstar Entertainment’s head honcho. “The full band arrangements were done by all the members and was produced by Rye Sarmiento, who is also the guitarist of 6cyclemind and Banda Ni Kleggy.” Deceptively simple sound Certainly at peace with their deceptively simple but lush sound, the vowels they orbit takes pride with their collaborative effort in recording a worthy follow-up to their hit single. “At first, we can’t help but feel a bit nervous about the release of Kiliti given the success of Selos,” bassist Patch Javier points out. “But going back and remembering how Kiliti is such a different song makes us feel excited, rather than pressured. What’s important to us is that people get to listen to the song.” “It’s always also a great feeling when listeners interpret the song in their own ways and find a connection to the song somehow,” vocalist and guitarist Nikka Melchor shares the same sentiment. “Knowing that we love this song and that we put a lot of work into it is enough to not feel worried.” What's next for the vowels they orbit Now signed to Sony Music Philippines, the vowels they orbit are set to release an EP soon. Fresh from reaping prominent spots on international music festivals such as Hong Kong’s Clockenflap and Austin’s SXSW Festival, Ben&Ben is ready to smash their way to global domination with their accessible but compelling brand of folk, world music, alternative, blues, and indie rock. To date, the nine-piece supergroup has accumulated nearly 500 million streams on all online and digital platforms worldwide, making them one of the most streamed Filipino acts of all time Their debut album, Limasawa Street was released a few months ago to positive acclaim, earning astonishing praises from publications such as Business Mirror, which called the latest release “an instant classic” and Status Magazine, which went to greater lengths to rave about the album for being “a musical masterpiece and a visual experience.” As of the moment, the full-length record has produced two well-received singles under its belt: the groovy smash “Pagtingin,” which topped the Spotify and Youtube streaming charts for several months since its debut and the radio hit “Araw-Araw.” With 2019 propelling the folk-pop band to A-list status, it’s remarkable to witness Ben&Ben churn out a new era outside of Limasawa Street with the surprise release of the latest single “Masyado Pang Maaga.” Dropped on the first day of November, the fresh new track is a glorious return to form: a restrained but intricately conceived beauty that arrives with the same effortlessness as all their best songs. What sets it apart from anything that they have done before is the inspiration behind the ornate displays, the relatable story that points to previously unexplored direction. “When I was writing the song, I was inspired by a very personal experience and frustration of why people struggle so much to communicate and understand each other these days,” guitarist and vocalist Miguel Guico shares. “Why do people decide to be silent and walk away instead of confront each other and talk about things? Hopefully the song can accompany people who go through the same thing, whether it be in their own personal experience or in their family and friends' experiences.” Produced by Paolo Guico and the band together with Jean-Paul Verona, and written by the Benjamin brothers, “Masyado Pang Maaga” might be included in the deluxe version of Limasawa Street, a move that is currently being discussed by Ben&Ben’s team. With the song being thematically different from the ones in the latest record, Ben&Ben decided to put it on hold instead of including it in the 13-track album. “Writing-wise, Limasawa Street is full of songs filled with messaging of hope, of looking up towards the fact that things will be better,” guitarist and vocalist Paolo Guico adds. “However we felt that there was a need for a song that accompanies the listener in frustration.” With its lush arrangements leaning toward something more intimate and less overpowering, the latest song is a proof of their staying power as musicians who continue to evolve and make music that soars beyond expectations. Ben&Ben’s “Masyado Pang Maaga” is now available on all streaming and download platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, and Deezer via Sony Music Philippines. Stream "Masyado Pang Maaga" here:

Cebu-based pop rock outfit Drive Me To Juliet serenades and pleases us aesthetically with their music video for latest single ‘Universe’.They truly made us feel so alive with their track, not to mention Kaye Racho’s soothing vocals. The music video, directed by Yano Cortes, was light in the eyes and in the feels. The band wore all white and the production set was dressed in the same manner—now talk about being clean.Check out ‘Universe’ here:

On the eve of the Halloween festivities, pop alternative band Room for Cielo premiered their music video for their single ‘Hanggang Dito’—and it’s a haunting depiction of how relationships fail.   Directed by Silver Belen, the music video showed a once happy couple during one of their fights and how it led to the coldness once they reached the place they call ‘home’. The silence between them was rough to bear and justified their complications as a couple.   Watch the music video for ‘Hanggang Dito’ here:
