When Sandwich got together in 1998 the plan was that there was no plan. The group was simply a bunch of like-minded music fans who wanted to make songs and play them live. They were already in other bands, and working on radio and in record labels (well except for Marc who was in school). This was just an excuse to make other kinds of music with other people, a fun thing to do on the side. They wrote a few songs because they thought that was cool (and also, they couldn’t cover for shit so that worked out). And to be able to play live they got a monthly Sunday prod at Mayric’s (because nobody wanted that night). The record label released the first album on a lark. The album’s kick off single took off and the rest as they say, is history. Since then the band has released eight albums. A generation of Pinoy music fans have grown up on “Butterfly Carnival” and “Sugod”. They’ve picked up every award a rock band can possibly have in Manila. They’ve played the width and breadth of the Philippines. They’ve also played in bars and festivals in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, London, New York, and LA including The Hollywood Bowl. You could say they’ve come a long way from that high school classroom in Ateneo where they almost didn’t play their first gig because of an irate Math teacher. Sandwich is turning 20 this year. To celebrate, they will be holding UNDER THE GLOW OF THE SATELLITE, an anniversary concert on April 13 at the Metrotent Convention Center, Metrowalk Commercial Complex. The band is also putting out a limited 7” vinyl with two new songs - “Time Lapse” and “Parang Walang Nangyari”. Are they done? Hell no. Not when it’s getting easier to be themselves and to pluck ideas out of their heads and get them down on tape. There’s still so much fun to be had. The world is moving forward, the future is exciting and unexpected, and there’s always more music to hear and make and play. Those old punks are still in there, carrying their heroes with them as they go in search for new musical adventures together.

This is the culmination of a year long celebration of Moonstar88 and Torete reaching and still being relevant across different generations for 18 years. This is in partnership with The Square - Lancaster New City, Imus Cavite which is also simultaneously celebrating the grand launch of their new brand logo.   The celebration started with the band releasing a special edition Torete shirt. The band then honoured their founding recording label, Alpha Records, and worked together for a special EP entitled Strings Attached. The special project features 3 of Moonstar88’s hits “Torete”, “Sa Langit” and “Sulat” and “Huwag na Muna”, the first single in the EP which has never been released previously as a single. All the songs were arranged with the accompaniment of string instruments.   This must-see concert on March 10 will be a special treat by the band for the audience as it will feature their songs that have become Pinoy classics and anthems throughout the years and will, for the first time, have live accompaniment of an orchestra which will surely be an experience that cannot be missed.   Have a feel of what's to come on March 10 by clicking on the Spotify link below: https://open.spotify.com/album/6AH5q8Dypt9GcOBNWh88mg?si=jdQv6JySTg2vNRGk46JPbQ

Most definitely, Kai by Maryzark is a song that music fans from the mid-2000 knows. The song's honesty together with the well written lyrics will definitely send anyone listening to it on a 'feels' trip and an emotional rollercoaster. "Kai" was released (if I'm not mistaken) around 2006; an era when teenagers wore skinny jeans, slip-on shoes, dark colored clothes while rocking that one-side 'emo' hair. Maryzark's Kai is definitely part of the soundtrack of the youthful years of the peeps who are now working on their 9 to 5 jobs. Nostalgia will definitely hit those people when they hear this acoustic rendition of Kai. The sadness that the lyrics bring is complemented by the accompaniment of acoustic instruments. You'll feel the sadness more with this version, I assure you.   You can check out Kai (Acoustic) by Maryzark below!     Kai (Acoustic) is also available for streaming at Spotify. Click HERE and enjoy the emotional-rollercoaster ride c/o Maryzark!

There is definitely no stopping - nor slowing-down - the consistent run of one of the Philippines’ most successful top live-draws, FRANCO. If the past year was highlighted with successful single releases, countless of packed concert venues and attendance-breaking live festival appearances all over the country, 2018 – this early-on – is about to witness yet another tour de force from the critically acclaimed group, whose knack for modern rock anthems and an unparalleled live performance ethic have already solidified their spot into the annals of OPM history.             First and foremost, the band’s latest full-length release Flight, is an impressive onslaught of powerhouse songwriting and musical dynamism; filled-to-the-brim with 10 surefire hits (including the previously released singles “Best I Ever,” “Mondaze” and “Breaking For The Weekend…”), the disc – released under Warner Music Singapore for international territories – is easily one of the strongest and most exciting releases to start the year right.             Fueled by the carrier track “All Nighter,” which boasts of diversified songwriting and musical direction flavored with jangly guitar riffs from both chief lyricist/songwriter/guitarist Franco Reyes and guitarist Paul “Pauldo” Cañada, an almost dance-able drum-beat from skinsman Victor Guison and a solid, modern-rock thumping and low-end from bassist Dave Delfin, loyal aficionados and pundits are definitely going to marvel at the musical maturity and sense of experimentation, as the song is surely another ace-up-the-sleeve kind of single even the most serious music fans would have never been able to foresee… in short, Franco (the band) is still out to prove that great music is never predictable nor formulaic, as almost all of the timeless greats that came before them have proven.               “It was a very refreshing feeling,” claims Reyes, when asked about the creative process behind Flight, the band’s first official collaborative effort. “We’re very satisified with the results, and a good sign that we can work together effectively, for this and for more songs in the future.”             Of course, there’s still a lot of the vintage FRANCO sound and spirit available all throughout Flight: from the dark n’ sexy vibe of album opener “Afterburn,” the vocally soaring and ultra-catchy urgency of “Last Word” (possibly another live, sing-along crowd favorite…), infectious rock-reggae hybrids “Lost In Your Universe” and “Aurora Sunrise” and a modern-rock flavored and ultra-moody gem “Goodbye, Goodnight” closing the album, fans and even not-so-longtime listeners would be wise to hear it for themselves as it is now available through Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music and Amazon Music.             Coinciding with the release of Flight is the exciting news that FRANCO is still effortlessly riding the top of the waves of the current musical landscape: as if the band’s intensely busy nationwide touring schedule and appearances was not enough proof, the band will also be embarking on even more out-of-the-country appearances and dates all throughout the year. Loyal fans and even new-comer listeners can expect simply a stronger, more-focused and –if possible – an even more sonically adventurous outfit that’s bound for bigger leaps and larger-goals-achieved this year, as FRANCO remains hungrier, busier and determined and aggressive as ever in spreading the modern rock gospel... In a nutshell, FRANCO is a hundred and ten percent ready to take-on worldwide shores and horizons; and the only question that remains is if the rest of the world is strapped-in tight and prepared to be taken on a wild, musical ride of this magnitude. ADDENDUM: The production team decided to be referred as Sixth Sense Production to suggest that emotional intelligence through team work and handling conflict and pressure should be the sixth major sense a human being must possess. We believe, as future HR Practitioners, that emotional intelligence is as essential as the five major senses. The development of EQ will mean the breaking point between success and failure – it is the one that will make you truly distinct. Moreover, the theme we incorporated to complement the concept of diversity is Rubik’s Cube. Obviously, we used it as a metaphor and pictured the organization as the cube and the tiles as the people or generally, the labor force. These people play different roles and must be “assembled” and put into their respective places in order to function well. The responsible for making the elements work in harmony is on the palms of the HR. Finally, this event will not be possible without the support of various public and private institutions. What: DIVERSIFIED: Embracing Differences Towards Unified Workforce Where: 4th Floor NALLRC Bldg., Mabini Campus Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Sta. As part of the program, the students were tasked to formulate a concept which constitutes any of the pertinent trends and issues that the industry is currently facing. Hence, the proponents came up with a topic that is being over-looked upon due to emergence of technology and artificial intelligence. Building a knowledge-based nation must not result to impairment of humane values and policies. As a result, the outline of the seminar is: Introduction of what workforce diversity is and how it changes the work environment; The need to embrace and recognize workforce diversity as well as the advantages of doing so; and The effective management of diverse workforce: o   The role of HR in managing diverse workforce o   The impact of effective management of diverse workforce to the overall performance of organization. Of course, we did not simply construct a concrete concept without finding the right, competent speakers that will do justice in the event’s objectives. With the stated credentials, it is undeniably fathomable to realize that these people can deliver and have the capability to share immense knowledge to the listeners.   For our First Resource Speaker, Mr. Jeric Louis Pantaleon, a graduate of De La Salle University – College of Saint Benilde (Batch 2003). Neuro Linguistic Programming Master (Certified MASTER Practitioner by American Union of Neuro Programming), Corporate Skill Trainer, Training Consultant and Team Building Facilitator, Motivational Speaker and Life Coach whose expertise is in the field of Practical Psychology, and Owner of JGP TRAINING SERVICES that provide team buildings, motivational talks, HR Training Consultancy, etc. – Mr. Pantaleon will be responsible for introducing the concept of workforce diversity and its significance in building a highly-competitive nation. Our Second Resource Speaker is Mr. Arvin Crisol, a graduate of Ateneo De Manila University MA, Education Administration (Batch 1999). Presently working at ABS-CBN Corporation as the Human Resources Head, ABS-CBN Regional, Star Magic, ABS-CBN Events, Programming and On-Air Operations Head with core competencies in Organizational Development, Training and Development, Talent Management, Recruitment, and Labor Relations. – Mr. Crisol will teach the future people managers their roles and obligations in honing and unifying the general workforce. The Motivational Talk will be given by Ms. Jude Miraflor Roces, Chief Learning Officer at BayHewitt Learning & Consulting. A graduate of Business Management and an IRCA certified ISO 9001:2008 Lead Auditor.Having more than 15 years of management experience in Organization and Leadership Development, Training Delivery and Instructional Design, Quality Management Systems, Business Analysis and Process Improvement, Marketing Analysis and Business intelligence, – Ms. Roces is not just an accomplished leader but also an acknowledge inspirational speaker and will practically focus on the subject of Personal Branding. Be entertained by our distinguished Guest Performers; Mr. Gabriel Medridejos, Ms. Claire Bricenio, Human Resource Dance Troupe, and from our very own Sixth Sense Production. All of our performers are students of PUP for we want to break the notion that we, Iskolar ng Bayan, only excel academically. So- already eager to be part of this prestigious event? Here are the requirements we are looking for: 3rd and 4th year management students or any of the related courses – hungry for learning, passionate about leading, determined to establish an avenue of equal opportunity for growth and advancement to all. And ultimately, ready to conquer the corporate arena and gain competitive advantage. Here at PUP, we firmly stand for free education to all. With our mantra, “Education NOT For Sale. We are NOT For Sale” we do believe that education is a basic right that every citizen must enjoy. Thus, ADMISSION is FREE. Just go to our website and find the link of our online registration. *Friendly Advisory: We strictly do NOT allow walk-ins on the event day* For more information and latest updates, please visit our social media accounts FB: HRDiversified.Official Twitter: @HRDiversified2018 you can also email us at [email protected] or reach us at the contact information given above. Alternative Rock band Talata releases music video for their song "Bride".     It's not that usual to see bands having animated music videos for their songs. Ofcourse, there are some bands who've already done that but Talata's music video for their song "Bride" is something else. It's so detailed in every aspect that you'll definitely feel the emotions of the song with the help of the visuals. The animated music video was created by Karlo Strat Ancheta and Ivan Bartolome.    You can check out Talata's new music video below!

Parokya ni Edgar, one of the country’s longest-standing outfits from the ‘90s band explosion, is back in the music scene this month with their latest single offering "Wala Lang Yun, penned by Chito Miranda himself.  "Wala Lang Yun" is lifted from their very successful album Pogi Years Old.    The record is a mixture of comic relief, serious outtakes, and love bites, all with a dash of kapilyuhan, something that the band has always been known for in their career that has spanned 2 decades.

Sponge Cola is back with an interesting pair of songs to close out 2017 and at the same time open 2018. Fresh off their latest hit “Bahaghari," the band is set to release “Tempura" and “Kunwari."   Universal Records proudly launches "Kunwari" alongside "Tempura".   Bassist Gosh Dilay penned the bittersweet “Kunwari," that despite being a lighthearted song, deals with something everyone is all too familiar with: unrequited love. Framed by Dilay's trademark Filipino, “Kunwari” emphasizes the push and pull between being eager risk takers, and safe calculated people when it comes to love.   Both “Tempura" and “Kunwari” are available on all digital platforms!

The much loved American rock band Incubus, whose return engagement to Manila has been eagerly awaited is performing February 17, 2018, Saturday, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.   The band is known for its rock anthems Wish You Were Here, Megalomaniac, Anna Molly, Drive, Pardon Me, Are You In?, Nice To Know You, among others. The concert is produced by Ovation Productions, the group that also did Incubus’ previous concerts in Manila; the last was in 2015. Since their formation in 1991, iconic multiplatinum Los Angeles rock band Incubus have consciously and continually shifted their perspective with each subsequent album, preserving the spirit that initially drove them and simultaneously challenging themselves as artists and human beings. Their eighth full-length, the aptly titled 8 [Island Records], proudly upholds that tradition for the quintet—Brandon Boyd [vocals], Mike Einziger [guitar, piano, backing vocals], José Pasillas II [drums], Chris Kilmore [turntables, keyboards], and Ben Kenney [bass].    “As a band, we’re collectively interested in challenging ourselves and hopefully finding new, innovative ways of writing music,” asserts Boyd. “That ethos has kept things interesting for us.”   In the fall of 2016, the five musicians regrouped to flesh out ideas, recording at Jim Henson Studios and at Einziger’s personal studio. As the vision came into focus during early 2017, Incubus added another level by enlisting the perspective of longtime friend Skrillex [Justin Bieber, A$AP Rocky, Lady Gaga] for co-production and mixing. Einziger had spent the past few years, exponentially expanding his personal musical palette. Not only did he oversee production for The Internet’s Feel Good and produce three songs for Tyler, The Creator’s chart-topping “Cherry Bomb,” but he also co-wrote Avicii’s six-times platinum smash “Wake Me Up” and served as musical director and performer for a much talked-about 2016 GRAMMY® Awards performance of “Where Are Ü Now” by Skrillex, Diplo, and Justin Bieber. After lunch one day, Einziger played Skrillex some mixes, and “a whole new world opened up” as the producer added his magic to 8.   “It evolved organically out of my friendship with Skrillex,” Einziger elaborates. “Incubus is all about friendship. We transferred the synergy of working together into what the band was doing. As we put the final touches on everything, Skrillex brought another level to the album.”   As a result, the eleven tracks comprising 8 assemble a mosaic reflective of the band’s current mindset. Unease translates to unpredictable guitar riffs that blur the lines between time signatures as cosmic rhythmic transmissions orbit around an epicenter of combustible emotion. Each lyric encodes a parable or what might be a hidden message. The first single “Nimble Bastard” leapfrogs from a rattling guitar snap into an anthemic refrain. “Loneliest” echoes with an existential rumination on solitude over an airy beat and hypnotic guitars. “Undefeated” struts along via a bombastic stomp before culminating on an uplifting chant, while the spacey “Familiar Faces” instantly enchants.   The soothing instrumental soundscape of “Make No Sound In The Digital Forest” illuminates their cinematic side with delicate chimes, simmering drums, and warbling tones. A dial-up modem signals the explosion of “Love In A Time of Surveillance” as the one-two punch of “No Fun” and “Throw Out The Map” tap into a tsunami of distortion and punk-y freedom. “Glitterbomb” represents the glorious push-and-pull of 8, teetering between heavenly harmony and a dramatic twinge.   8 arrives at a significant milestone for Incubus—releasing exactly 20 years since their major label debut S.C.I.E.N.C.E. landed back in 1997. A little older, a lot wiser, quite tighter, but equally ready to challenge themselves and rock music at large, Incubus change their perspective once more in 2017.    “All the time, I hear from fans that our music was the backdrop of their first experience with love or important in getting them through a hard time,” says Einziger. “That’s the highest compliment.”   “When we finished 8, we were flooded with this wave of gratitude,” Boyd leaves off. “The fact that so many people are willing to come on this weird ride with us is really humbling. We’re filled with this sense of awe around it. We’re very happy to share this record with everyone, and we hope they like it.”

14 years ago, we recorded our debut album. It was released independently and came out with only 1,000 copies in CD and was shelved by our former label after a couple of years. As our first album project after recently reforming, we are heading back to the studio to re-record the whole album in time for its 15th Anniversary and we want to invite you to be part of this recreation. As a bonus, we plan to include a couple of unreleased tracks and pledgers will also receive an advance digital copy of our brand new single “Lovers Go, Lovers Come.”   We’ve grown so much as musicians in the past 10 years with different bands and projects and this is a way for us to look back where we started, and improve whatever we can on the record. Overall, we are just excited to share this with our fans. It has been a long time coming.   We want to give you an interactive experience. Through Pledgemusic, our fans can pre-order “Love In The Land Of Rubber Shoes & Dirty Ice Cream" (15th Anniversary Edition), as well as other unique merchandise and memorabilia that will not be available anywhere else. We are going to offer private shows, preview of the album before its release, and other unique items.   Each week we will be posting a video and give you an inside look of who we are, the making of this record and the story of each song. We want our fans to be part of the release every step of the way.
