Sony Music Philippines Unveils Newest Batch of OPM Artists

As an international record label, Sony Music aims to pursue the representation of every music genre through discovery and honing of homegrown acts. Last July 24, the record label officially welcomed their newest roster of artists to their growing family—Ben&Ben, the vowels they orbit, Alex Bruce, syd hartha, and Nathan & Mercury.

Starting the launch was 12-year-old hiphop artist Alex Bruce, whose first single made it to the top of the local hiphop charts. Evidence to her rising name as a rapper are her guestings which recently hit more than a million views.

Following the young rapper was Sony PH’s recently signed band, the vowels they orbit. Their unique texture to songs made them eligible for chart-topping hits such as their latest single, “Selos” which made it to  #2 in Spotify Philippine’s Top 50 Viral chart.

Third to perform was Wanderband runner-up Nathan & Mercury, who debuted this year by opening for international artists such as Honne, Clairo, The Kooks, and Two Door Cinema Club during Wanderland Music Festival 2019. This experimental alternative band radiates such huge potential as they continue to experiment with various genres, not to mention an amazing vocal stretch.

Also joining in to perform is rising artist syd hartha, who recently made noise in the industry for releasing her song “ayaw” that tackles about the sensitive issue of sexual harassment and let out a significant voice regarding women empowerment. This brave and talented soul mentioned during the launch that she aims to convey messages that most artists are reluctant to step into--all as a contribution to social awakening.

Closing the launch then and there was a stunning performance by Ben&Ben, who is now considered as one of the most streamed Filipino artists of all time. This nine-piece folk rock outfit is sure to make more ears listen to them as they partner up with Sony Music to take the country by storm.

There’s really something to look forward to these coming days, especially from Sony Music. Congratulations to the whole family!
