ALTERNATIVE ROCK AND SOUL ACT SUD GEARS-UP AND PUSHES FORWARD WITH THEIR NATIONWIDE DUMALOY ALBUM TOUR

As the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel is shining clear for the Filipino music scene, SUD – arguably one of the country’s best and most prolific bands to come out during the past decade – is about to embark on yet another musical adventure and add another chapter to its collective string of milestones and achievements with its ever-growing nationwide string of shows and live performances starting this October 2022.

Dubbed simply as the Dumaloy Album Tour, the band – currently consisting of vocalist and guitarist Sud Ballacer, drummer Jimbo Cuenco, keyboardist Kohl Aguilar, saxophonist Carlos Dela Fuente and bassist Raisa Racelis – cannot contain its excitement as they are celebrating both their most-recent outing (2021’s full-length sophomore outing Dumaloy, which was released under Warner Music Philippines…) and the fact that they could finally be able to take the music back on the road.

We’ve been itching to tour behind the new album for a while, since last year in fact,” shares saxophonist Caloy. “Because Dumaloy was released during a very difficult time for the industry, we knew we had to carefully plan when to get the tour under way -even if that meant we had to hold-out for a while until everything made sense.”

It was the band’s recent well-received anniversary show (held last September at Minsan Studio…) that served as the impetus to get things into motion. Says drummer Jimbo: “it’s exciting because we only recently got together as a whole band, and the album’s been out for a year already so people will know the songs,” and adds: “we’ve never really toured any of our albums, so this is definitely a first – and weget to do it when we’ve all grown as musicians, and our live setup has definitely evolved so there’s plenty to look forward to.”

The Dumaloy Album Tour also serves as the perfect opportunity to promote the group’s focus single “Baliw,” which is arguably one of their strongest to date, complete with an amazing music video which can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqPiGUqxmMM.

Kicking-off on October 9th, 2022 at Café Lupe in Antipolo, the dates span areas in and outside Metro Manila – from north to south until December 2022 – including Marikina, Cavite, Laguna, Baguio, Cebu and Bacolod. Of course, more dates are expected to be added once audiences all over start spreading the good news about the band’s triumphant return to touring and live performances. They will be joined by fellow Warner Music Philippines Arthur Miguel, Jikamarie and Mayonnnaise, and are also looking to invite their friends TONEEJAY, Leanne and Naara, Lola Amour, Sugarcane and Syd Hartha.

When asked what the band has both missed and what they’re all looking-forward-to the most, Caloy shares: “it’s not just the performances and the shows, but the time in-between those shows that we are definitely excited about – when organizers take us around their respective towns so we can immerse ourselves in their culture, and when we get to just hang out with each other in general: because SUD is more than just a band at this point: we really do enjoy being around each other, even if we sometimes get on each others’ nerves,” he laughs. “But hey – that’s what a family is.” FIN
