Glorious Masai Mara is a 5-piece metal band whose members come from DLSU-College of Saint Benilde. Formed in March of 2004, Glorious Masai Mara started out as two bands with differing styles of metal(tribal and power metal) that eventually merged, hence the interesting name. Vocalist Pancho Araneta, bassist Kiko Aquino and drummer Joel Santiago were joined by guitarist David Teo and percussionist Cito Lazaro. A need for harmonized lead guitars saw the arrival of guitarist Christian Castano. David and Cito soon left and the guitarist's spot was filled in by Sultans of Snap's Kaloi Cambaliza. Eventually, matters shifted around and Kaloi departed, his place as guitarist currently held by Joaquin Acosta

The band's influence stems from numerous metal and hard rock acts such as Iron Maiden, Cryptopsy, Kamelot and Motley Crue. On the fringes of this rather standard musical inspiration for metal, members of the band also listen to an eclectic assortment of other genres of music such as electronica, pop, hip hop and jazz. This interesting mix of musical backgrounds is what the band uses to feed the current of expression they play and channel that torrent through the avenue of metal.

The band regularly plays in the all usual bars around Metro Manila as well as several events. They have made a significant amount of presence felt on the radio, winning a 2nd place slot on the RJUR countdown and have made several appearances on TV. The band has quite a following online and their videos have had considerable views on youtube. They are currently working on their 15-song debut album.
