Since the beginning, Exillion has set its goal to be a band that plays music that empowers people by combining melody-laden instrumentation and vocal performance with sensible, rousing stories. It is no surprise for one to notice that majority of the songs the band writes deals with battles - whether personal or collective, and a hope for victory. After all, the band's take on power metal-influenced lyricism focuses on one's struggles and triumphs against the forces of society that continuously poison minds into thinking the way they want them to think.
The unit was established in 2009 in UPLB by musician wunderkind Silver Alcabasa, former NU107 and current Dig Radio rock jock Cyrus "The Virus" Fernandez (who was still a full-time student then), shredder Joseph Castillo, and guitarist-turned-bassist Peter Lazo.
Wasting no time, the band went straight into writing originals shortly after they completed their first lineup with the entry of fellow UPLB band Hyena Harmonies Inc's drummer Bernard Gonzales. Within their first month, they were able to come up with the songs "Godmachine", "Saints", "Countdown" and "Slaves of Society".
Having completed a modest collection of songs, they did the next thing any upstart band sets off to do: play gigs. The name "Exillion" was first introduced to a crowd in at a humble rock bar in Sta. Cruz, Laguna in May 2009.
The next few months proved to be eventful for the band as they found more opportunities to play. After their first gig in the metro in June of that year at Checkpoint Bar in Paranaque, they started to receive a number of gigs that proved beneficial in their campaign to spread their music.
A couple of months later, on August 10, 2009, they received another break when their song "Godmachine" was voted as the "In the Raw" standout track on the now-defunct rock radio station NU107.
It seemed at that point that their momentum was taking them where they wanted to be. In the midst of this however, Gonzales had to exit the band to focus his energies on Hyena Harmonies Inc.
Crippled after losing a drummer, they quickly set out to look for a replacement. They eventually found one in the person of ex-Valley of Chrome drummer Voltaire del Rosario. The second incarnation of the band with del Rosario debuted on January 23, 2010 at the launch of Fernandez's events production outfit Audio Heavy Productions.
On September 3, 2010, the photo on the band's page on social networking site facebook was changed to a stoplight on red and the band grew silent once again. This raised speculation from some followers that the band was disbanding. Although they came out with the single "Ascension" on NU107, it wasn't clear what was going to happen next. No one heard from the band after the release of their single.
For the most part of seven months, nothing was heard or read from Exillion except for the occasional cryptic messages they posted on their page on Facebook. Alcabasa, however remained active playing music during this time with his young electro-pop rock unit "Segatron".
On April 18, 2011 , Good Monday, the band finally broke their silence and announced the entry of Odessa singer/drummer Sid Buan to the fold, thus ending speculations that they have disbanded.
They were set to play a comeback gig of sorts at Sazi's Bar (formerly Mayric's) on May 7, 2011 but were not able to make the appearance. The following day, two messages were posted on their page sending out cryptic messages about them "laying down the weapon", although it is not clear if it was a statement that signified the end of the band.
