Matisyahu Live in Manila 2017

Matisyahu Live in Manila 2017

The Jewish-American reggae vocalist, together with his band has finally invaded Manila, for the very first time. It's considered as the very first Asian country they have visited, happened last 23rd of September, Saturday at SM North EDSA Skydome, for their Undercurrent Tour. Undercurrent is their 6th studio album released this year.

DJ Dante started the night and feeds the thirst and hunger of the waiting skankers with an hour-long set, filled with reggae music. Then, the show was followed by our very own Ragga Pinay, Lady-I with original tunes and beats from Coolie Dread.

Finally, the King without a crown has officially set foot for the very first time on Philippine stage. Matisyahu starts his set off with "Sunshine" and continues to make the reggae-heads high all throughout the night.

The beats, the bands, the instruments, the vocals and yes, the lights, all of these are incredibly always on point!

"All our lives, we've been waitin' for, we've been waitin' for, for this day to come..."

The reggae music enthusiasts wait for so long for this day to come. Now that it's finally here, we're far ready to say goodbye, especially when our very own, Bugoy Drilon, who's known for his One Day cover, jams with Matisyahu on stage. Firing up the night by singing One Day, followed by the famous reggae song, No Woman No Cry.

"Today, today, live like you wanna, let yesterday burn and throw it in a fire, in a fire, in a fire, live like a Warrior..."

At least, in one night, he let us live like a warrior. The night was filled with the "light" and positivity brought by his own music. In addition, he also showed us his talents on beat-boxing. He gave us a performance that would not just let us sing and swing, but a performance that inspires and brings peace and love.

"Matisyahu, we won't forget ya..."
