Everybody, let’s welcome the newest member of Mr. Bones and the Boneyard Circus – Carissa Ramos!

“We have seen her perform a few times, we have mutual friends in the underground music scene as well,” Karl Vito Cruz discussed when we asked them how they came across with Carissa in choosing their next bassist. “When our former bass player Javen had to exit to work abroad, we were thinking of getting a female bassist, and Carissa was on top of our list,” they keyboardist added. “She’s our little blues playing sistah from another band, MeanJay!” Mr. Bones also exclaimed.

There was this one night when the band asked Carissa to jam with Mr. Bones and the Boneyard Circus and play for a gig – all on the same night. And by then, the whole gang knew that they didn’t have to look any further. “Oh god,” Mr. Bones exclaimed when he shared how they felt that Carissa is the one, “We had to cancel auditions when she jammed with us. She rocked out, she flaunted, she blew our brains out, then boom! We all agreed.”

In addition, Carissa also shared that aside from her, Carissa’s friends and family have the same surprise and excitement as she became the new bassist of the band. “Nagulat sila kasi this kind of genre is not usual for a band here in the Philippines,” she imparted. The bassist revealed that it is definitely a “new image and playing style” for her. “I am from a blues band and this rock horror band called Mr. Bones and the Boneyard Circus really change me and get me out of my comfort zone, which is good for me as a musician.” Carissa similarly expressed her gratitude to the supporters of the band and promised that there will be something more from them, especially now that she’s a part of it. “’Hindi ako kumakain ng apoy’ but I'll give my best ‘Beast mode,’” she declared.

The rest of the crew also believed that Carissa is the missing piece from Mr. Bones and the Boneyard Circus. “Always on the positive and that sound she brings when song writing together, ideas and that crazed spark of mischief,” Mr. Bones said in commending their new bassist. “Our sound is a lot brighter with a twist of insanity. Welcome to the family. Let the real fun BEGIN!”

Mr. Bones and the Boneyard Circus is now composed of Mr. Bones (vox), Alvin Chan (guitars), Carissa Ramos (bass), Jovic De Leon (drums), Karl Vito Cruz (keys), Xombie (dj/samples), and Jesso Montejo (percussions).
