Samaria started out as high school friends, Julius (guitar), Bruce (bass), and Vanessa (vox) came from the same school while Tonton "Kurt" (drums) was introduce by Vanessa's friend from rehearsal studio.
The group quickly found out that they have chemistry in playing music together. As all of them are music lovers it bought diversity and texture in their music; while their tight friendship allowed them to voice out their ideas openly.
With a sole female member as its inspiration to name the band, the name SAMARIA playfully lifted from the term " Isang Maria" a remark which they got in one of their gig.
The band plays melodramatic pop rock music. In their songs reflects the youthful exuberance of their generation as well as the contagious nature of being melancholy. Samaria's music will definitely draw allot of admirers as it is tastefully sprinkled with the right dose of sweet melodies. typically some of the band's early influences were Eraserheads, Sugarfree, Alanis Morisette , Paramore,. etc.
